MA seminar 1

dr Mariusz Marczak

In this course, we learn all that is necessary to plan, write and successfully deliver an MA dissertation in Translation Studies (TS). The main research areas covered in this seminar are selected aspects of the use of translation technologies, e.g. Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT), Machine Translation (MT) and AI, as well as contemporary translator education, including translator competence and methods in Translation Pedagogy. The coursework involves both a theoretical and practical component; we conduct discussions, deliver presentations and learn to collect, analyse and describe research data through mini research projects and critically analyse selected TS publications. In addition, we explore the aforementioned technologies and learn how to use computerised bibliography management tools, so that we can easily organise sources, compile a bibliography list and insert in-text references; all with a view to writing more efficiently.
